We stole a few blinds and re-stole one, so we had managed to keep our head above water and even add a bit to our stack, but we were still in the "need to double up" position.
Our nemesis in Seat 6 raised and was re-raised by Seat 7. We woke up in the big blind with JJ, our first JJ all day. Somewhat exciting as we hadn't seen QQ, KK or AA either, and now we need it. We push all in. Seat 6 thinks for a while and then calls. Seat 7 folds, so his re-raise is now dead money in the pot - if we win we will do far better than just doubling up.
Seat 6 shows TT - we're an 82% favorite! The flop comes 469. We are now a 90% favorite! Not sure why, but we're thinking "7", and sure enough a 7 turns. I'm not sure why, but I couldn't get the vision of an 8 out of my mind - I was thinking, "no 8, no 8" and sure enough an 8 hit the river giving him a straight! Bye-bye donkey.
I left pretty incredibly frustrated. Should have had 35,000 plus in chips. Oh well, I understand luck is part of the game, and we did win a race with AQ against QQ earlier.
Tomorrow we're playing Hi-Lo Pot Limit Omaha, which is too difficult to describe in a play by play, but Donkey will check back in next time hold'em is dealt.
All the best,
All the best,
Eric Kurtzman
