Playing 400-800 with 100 antes seat 4 raises to 1600 and seat 9 calls. We have KK in the SB and raise to 3200. seat 4 calls and seat 9 goes into the tank before raising to 6700. We raise to 13700. Seat 4 folds and seat 9 calls. The flop comes 4JK with 2 diamonds. I try to look disappointed that we hit a set of kings but the viagra-like effect they are having is moving the table some. We bet 3500 and he pushes all in!!! We snap call and he shows AA. Our set holds up and we pick up about 20000 on the hand.
So i guess thats how it feels to bad beat aces with kings. I don't really feel bad, particularly as most of the money went in after we were ahead.
In seat 4 we raise to 2300 with KK again! Seat 6, the biggest stack by far, raises to 7300 and everyone folds to us. We raise to 14800 and he literally asks if we have KK again. He calls and the flop comes 89T. A little afraid he has a set we check but he checks. Terrible turn comes the Ah (putting 2 hearts on the board). Oddly we pick this moment to bet and put in 11000. He tanks for a bit and then calls. The worst possible river card comes, the Jh. There's now a heart flush on the board, but worse is the 89TJ. So any Q or 7 is a straight. If he has any 2 cards 7 or higher (excluding kings) he has us beat. We check. He checks and shows QQ and takes it down with a straight. He had 6 outs when he called the 11000 bet! Oh well, i guess thats how it feela to have your kings bad beat by queens!
Im Sure we played several more hands, but it is two in the morning and I cannot recall them. We finished the day with 60200 in chips. A pretty good way to finish. We start up again tomorrow at 1 o'clock. I hope the first report goes out after 3 PM. Sleep well herd.
All the best,
Eric Kurtzman
